CLIENT BACKGROUND
NorthConnex is a major motorway tunnel project connecting Sydney’s M1 Pacific Motorway and Hills M2 Motorway, delivered by a large-scale infrastructure contracting team requiring specialised onsite equipment throughout construction.
PROJECT REQUIREMENT
The contractors for the NorthConnex project required conical mixing tanks for mixing concrete admixtures onsite. The solution needed to provide mobility and flexibility for set up of the mixing tanks and their use. As the project is short-term (approximately 5 years), they were looking for a complete package that would be easy to repurpose, including transportable tanks and agitators engineered to their specifications. The erosive nature of admixtures along with Australia’s harsh weather means non-corrosive materials with high UV stabilisation are important to use.
SOLUTION PROVIDED
Discussions between the project contracting team and the Polymaster team came up with the solution of 3 X 10,000L non-corrosive polyethylene conical tanks, with stainless steel frames and agitators. The agitators are also stainless steel, engineered to the client’s specifications, and the tanks include internal baffles to facilitate the mixing system. Extra pipework was also installed to the tanks to make filling and emptying easier. This engineered solution provided the ultimate system for the particular project parameters and requirements.
