Single-walled diesel tanks require a separately installed bund structure to meet the secondary containment requirements of AS1940. Once that bunding is in place, the choice comes down to how you want to dispense.
Tank Only
The tank-only option is suited to sites where dispensing infrastructure is already in place, or where you are adding storage capacity to an existing setup. These units provide above-ground diesel storage with standard fittings – level gauge, camlock fill point, brass outlet with ball valve, overfill protection, and earthing rod. Dispensing pump, hose, and cabinet are not included and must be sourced and installed separately.
Typical applications: adding bulk storage to a site with an existing pump and dispenser, sites where the dispensing setup is centralised, or situations where a custom pump configuration is required.
Tank + Dispenser
The tank plus dispenser configuration adds a quality Italian pump, lockable pump cabinet, and plug-and-play dispensing setup to the same tank. Available in 240V and 12V. This is the complete above-ground dispensing solution for sites that need storage and fuelling capability in one unit.
Typical applications: new installations on farm, construction, or mining sites where no dispensing infrastructure exists, fleet operations that need a standalone refuelling point, or any site where a plug-and-play setup minimises installation time and cost.
The Bunding Requirement
Unlike Polymaster’s self-bunded range, single-walled tanks do not include built-in secondary containment. Under AS1940:2017, above-ground diesel storage requires a bund capable of containing 110% of the tank’s capacity. This can be a concrete bund, earthen bund, or proprietary bund system – your installer or site planner will advise on what is appropriate for your site. Australian Standard AS1940:2017 governs the storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids, including diesel. For above-ground storage tanks, the standard requires secondary containment – a bund – capable of containing 110% of the tank’s capacity in the event of a spill or leak.
Single-walled tanks do not include built-in secondary containment. You will need to install an approved bund structure before or alongside your tank. Options include a concrete bund, an earthen bund, or a modular proprietary bund system. Your installer, site planner, or local council will advise on what is appropriate for your specific site and storage volume.
Once the bund is in place, the tank plus dispenser range (DSW+DK series) is explicitly designed to comply with AS1940:2017 when installed within an approved bund. The tank only range (DSW series) requires the same bunding but gives you flexibility to configure your own dispensing setup.

INSTALLATION OVERVIEW
Installing Your Single-Walled Diesel Fuel Tank

Step 1 - Bund Preparation
Install or confirm your bund structure before positioning the tank. The bund must be capable of containing 110% of the tank’s capacity in accordance with AS1940:2017. Concrete, earthen, and proprietary modular bunds are all acceptable. Your installer or site planner will advise on the appropriate bund type for your site.
Step 2 - Site Selection and Tank Positioning
Select a firm, level surface within the bund. Observe the required separation distances from buildings, boundaries, and ignition sources as specified in AS1940. Ensure adequate clearance for the fill truck to access the camlock fill point.
Step 3 - Plumbing the Outlet and Fittings
Connect the 2-inch brass outlet with ball valve to your dispensing line or pump. Ensure all connections are tight and leak-free. Install the earthing rod in accordance with the installation guide.
Step 4 - Electrical Connection (Tank + Dispenser only)
The Italian pump in the tank plus dispenser configuration requires a licensed electrician to complete the electrical connection. The 240V and 12V pump options have different connection requirements – confirm your site’s power supply before ordering. All electrical wiring must be completed by a licensed electrician.
Step 5 - Commissioning and Labelling

Preparing Your Site
Truck and trailer clearance required is 19 metres long, 5 metres high, and 3.5 metres wide. Check for low branches or powerlines on your access route and ensure your gate and entrance can accommodate a 19m truck and trailer. A flat, clear area of at least 5 metres by 5 metres is required for unloading.
