Who Needs a DEF Tank?
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), including AdBlue® is now standard in diesel-powered fleets across Australia, but not all storage solutions are equal.
The right setup depends on how much you dispense, how fast you need access, and whether you are running a fixed depot, a retail forecourt, or a mixed agricultural operation.

Why AdBlue® Storage Requires a Purpose-Built DEF Tank
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), including AdBlue® is not a forgiving substance to store. It is a highly purified solution of demineralised water and urea (32.5%) that is classified as corrosive to materials not listed as AdBlue®-proof in ISO 22241. Left exposed to air, it crystallises. Stored in non-compliant vessels, it degrades in performance. Exposed to direct sunlight or extreme heat, its chemical composition becomes compromised. Stored too cold, it freezes.
These properties make it critical that AdBlue® be stored in vessels built to exacting standards, rather than in repurposed water tanks or standard poly containers. Every Polymaster DEF tank is suitable for storage of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), including AdBlue® and engineered specifically to protect the fluid from UV exposure, temperature extremes, and atmospheric contamination.

DELIVERY AND DISTRIBUTION
Delivery Across Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland
AdBlue® bunded stations and large-capacity tanks require adequate site access and a clear, level unloading area. Truck and trailer clearance required is 19 metres long, 5 metres high, and 3.5 metres wide. Check for low branches or powerlines on your access route before your delivery date. Ensure your gate and entrance can accommodate a 19m truck and trailer, and have a flat, clear area of at least 5 metres by 5 metres available for unloading.
Our logistics team will contact you approximately seven days before arrival to confirm your address and run through the access requirements. For industrial tank deliveries, please also confirm whether a forklift or crane is available on site. Our team can advise on what is required for your specific unit.

Def tanks for AdBlue® require periodic inspection and cleaning to prevent crystallisation build-up in fittings and pipework. Check and clean the infill strainer and outlet fittings regularly, particularly if the tank has been sitting unused. Keep the breather clear and ensure the dry-break coupling seats cleanly at each fill. If the tank has been contaminated with diesel or another substance, flush thoroughly before reusing, contaminated AdBlue® will damage SCR systems. Follow Polymaster’s maintenance guidance and consult our technical team if you are unsure.
