Pipeline Tanks

A pipeline moves water. A pipeline tank is what makes it usable. It sits on the line, fills steadily, and holds enough volume to do the jobs a pipeline on its own cannot: keeping troughs full across the property, giving the homestead pressure, and filling a spray cart in minutes instead of a smoko break.

Polymaster pipeline tanks are purpose built for that job, whether the line is one you have run yourself from a river, dam or bore, or a government scheme coming through your district. They come from the Premium Certified RWT range, so you get a 20 year warranty across 17 Colorbond matched colours. Additional CFA, CFS and RFS fittings can be installed at the factory to meet your local fire authority requirements.

POLYMASTER WATER TANK SOLUTIONS

Our Most Trusted Water Storage Solutions

Polymaster’s pipeline tank range covers capacities suited to a single trough run through to broadacre properties filling spray carts and reticulating water across thousands of hectares.

HOW A PIPELINE TANK WORKS

Why a Pipeline Needs a Tank

A pipeline delivers water at whatever rate the pump or the scheme allows. That rate is almost never what you need at the moment you need it.

A pipeline tank fixes that. It fills steadily off the line and holds the volume, so when you do need water it is already there. Stock drink and the troughs stay full. The homestead draws pressure without the pump cycling. A spray cart pulls up and fills off a large bottom outlet in minutes rather than waiting on line flow through a tap.

Where the tank sits depends on what it is doing. A header tank feeding troughs wants elevation, since every metre of fall over the troughs gives you pressure and lets gravity do the work. A spray fill tank wants access, close to the track and with room to pull a cart alongside. Plenty of properties run both.

PIPELINE TANK APPLICATIONS

What Is a Pipeline Tank Used For?

Pipeline tanks do several different jobs, and plenty of properties use them for more than one. The common thread is a line running water somewhere, and a tank holding the volume that makes the line worth having.

Stock Water and Trough Supply

The most common use. A header tank sits at a high point and gravity feeds troughs across multiple paddocks, keeping them full without the pump cycling every time stock drink.

One tank can run a whole trough line, and tanks can be placed at intervals where the property is spread out or the fall is uneven.

Spray Cart Filling

On broadacre cropping properties, fill time is the constraint. Waiting on line flow through a tap while a spray rig sits idle costs you the run.

A pipeline tank topped up between fills, fitted with a large outlet at the base, lets you pull the cart alongside and fill in minutes. The line refills the tank in its own time while you are out spraying.

Homestead and Domestic Pressure

Where the line supplies the house, sheds and yards. The tank buffers the whole system, so a washdown at the shed does not drop pressure at the homestead or empty the troughs at the far end of the property.

Government Pipeline Schemes

Where a scheme is brought through a district, properties on the line need storage at the connection point. Scheme water arrives at a metered rate set by the operator, and a pipeline tank turns that allocation into a supply you can actually draw on.

Our tanks are well suited to scheme connections and we have supplied them across pipeline projects in rural Australia.

Fire Fighting Reserve

A pipeline tank at the high point of a property is well placed as a fire fighting reserve. CFA, CFS and RFS fittings can be installed at the factory to meet your local fire authority requirements, so the tank arrives ready rather than needing retrofitting.

Extending a Reticulation System

Adding paddocks, adding troughs, or pushing the line further than the original pump was sized for.

An additional tank part way along the run restores pressure at the far end without upsizing the pump.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about pipeline tanks, positioning, spray fill and fire authority fittings.

A tank that sits on a water line and holds volume, so the line becomes a usable supply rather than just a flow rate. It might be a header tank you have run yourself from a river, dam or bore, or a tank at a government scheme connection. Either way it fills off the line and delivers water when you need it.

Yes, and it is one of the main reasons broadacre properties fit them. A tank with a large outlet at the base fills a cart in minutes, where filling off line flow through a tap can hold a spray rig up for a long stretch of a working day. The tank refills off the line while you are out spraying. Tell us the cart capacity and turnaround you need and we will match the outlet size to it.

Depends what it is doing. A header tank feeding troughs wants the highest practical point on the section of line it feeds, since elevation is what gives you pressure. A spray fill tank wants access above all, close to the track with room to pull a cart alongside. Truck access matters too, since the highest point of a property is not always the easiest to deliver to. Talk to us before you settle on a spot.

The tank comes from the same premium certified range, but it is set up for a pumped or scheme line rather than a roof catchment. That means the inlet arrangement suits a pipeline connection with a float valve, outlet sizing can be specified for the job, and CFA, CFS or RFS fittings can be added at the factory where a fire authority requires them.

Start with the job. For troughs, the number running off the tank and the stock drinking from them, plus a buffer for a pump or power outage. For spray filling, the cart capacity and how many fills you want between refills. For a homestead, daily household demand plus a buffer. Plenty of properties are doing all three off one tank. Call us on 1800 062 064 and we will work through it.

Yes. Additional CFA, CFS and RFS fittings can be installed at the factory to meet your local fire authority requirements. Tell us which authority you are working to when you order and the tank arrives ready to comply, rather than needing a retrofit on site.

Yes. Polymaster pipeline tanks can be interconnected to increase total holding capacity at one location. Separately, multiple tanks can be placed at intervals along a line where the property is spread out or the fall is uneven, which restores pressure at the far end without upsizing the pump.

Yes. Where a scheme is brought through a district, properties need storage at the connection to turn a metered allocation into a usable supply. Our pipeline tanks are well suited to scheme connections, and fittings can be specified to suit the requirements of the scheme.

Where the source water is suitable, yes. Polymaster tanks are certified to AS/NZS 4020, the Australian standard for products in contact with drinking water. Water drawn from a river, dam or bore will usually need treatment before household use, so check the water quality and treat accordingly.

Pipeline tanks come from the Premium Certified RWT range and carry a 20 year pro-rata warranty from date of purchase. No registration is required.
