How many people are required on site for tank delivery?
The good news is that no-one is required to help the driver unload. Please provide a free and easy access to your site and an identified ‘marked’ area for the tank to be unloaded. Our driver will unload as close as possible your desired location. If the driver deems the desired location to be too difficult to manoeuvre the truck into, the driver will identify a safe and secure place to unload within your property.
Please note: The driver is unable to physically position the tank onto the ‘pad’. Exact positioning of the tank on the pad remains the responsibility of the property owner.
Can I weld my own fittings on the tank?
We do not recommend that you weld your own fittings as it will void the warranty and our staff are experienced and qualified in poly welding. Polyethylene welding needs surface preparation, compatible resin filler rods for welding and the appropriate fittings for the welding to be successful.
Do your tanks come with lifting lugs?
Yes, all Polymaster tanks have moulded lifting lugs that can be used when the tank is retaining its one-piece configuration. If the tank is a bunded or has had its roof removed for access reasons, then the lifting lugs will need to be welded onto the wall of the tank if required.
My tank is bulging?
It can be quite normal for a tank to bulge, due to the properties of the polymer (plastic) used to mould the tank. We quality test our tanks to ensure they are manufactured within tolerances and stand behind our warranties. If you are still concerned, please take some photos and email them to our aftersales team on aftersales@polymaster.com.au
What base does a poly rainwater tank need to sit on?
The foundation your poly rainwater tank sits on is critical for long-term performance. A poorly prepared base can cause structural fatigue and will void your warranty.
Your rainwater tank must be placed on a base that is:
- Firm, flat, and level in all directions
- Free from rocks, stones, and sharp edges
- At least 75mm to 100mm deep
- At least 600mm larger in diameter than the base of the tank
A concrete pad is the recommended base. Compacted sand or crusher dust is also acceptable. The outer edges of the base must be retained to prevent erosion from water, vermin, or other factors. Check the base annually to make sure it has not shifted or eroded.
For chemical tanks, the slab must be engineer-rated to support the full weight of the tank without flexing or cracking.
Can I have extra or upgraded fittings on my tank?
Polymaster tanks can have as many fittings as required by you. Standard water tanks come with 1 x outlet, 1 x ball valve and 1 x inlet. So, any fittings required above this do incur additional charges.
This is also the case with upgrading fittings. The standard fittings on the tank can be upgraded to any size you require. Additional charges will apply.
Can I put my outlet half way up the tank wall?
Yes, you can if you have one of our smooth wall tanks. Outlets can be fitted anywhere there is a smooth surface on the tank wall. This is not so straight-forward with our corrugated tanks. Each of these corrugated tanks have a ‘flat spot’ on the tank where the outlet can be fitted. There is one flat spot on each corrugated tank that is located at a specific location. The position of this flat spot varies according to the size of the tank.

What standard fittings do Polymaster rainwater tanks come with?
All water tanks have standard fittings when purchased. These fittings vary slightly according to our different tank ranges. Our round water tanks come standard with:
- Inlet with leaf screen/strainer
- 1 x 90mm overflow
- 1 x threaded outlet
- 1 x ball valve
Our slimline tanks come standard with:
- Inlet and leaf screen/strainer
- 1 x 90mm overflow
- 1 x threaded outlet
The outlets and ball valves also can vary in size depending on the size of the tank:
- 200ltr – 5,000ltr tanks = 1” (25mm) outlet & ball valve
- 7,100ltr – 50,000ltr tanks = 1 ½” (40mm) outlet & ball vale
The threaded outlet will always be fitted to the tank. The ball valve is supplied loose, unless specified otherwise. Other fittings are available upon request.
Where can I position my tank fittings?
Each style and tank size have different available fitting positions.
Can my tank be partially buried?
We do not recommend burying a rainwater tank. Polymaster have specifically designed Underground Water Tanks which can be buried under the surface.
